Blame It On Me

You don’t know me,

never met,

and won’t if I can help it.

The judge,

the jury,

I’ve been tried

and found so very

GUILTY!

How?

Ignorance,

deceit,

a cover-up counterfeit tale.

And yet you blame me

for crimes against...

what?

Who?

Drag me down,

stab that blade,

no smoke,

no mirrors,

just a distorted picture

that led me down that

garden path.

Maybe someone was having a laugh

but it sure as hell

was not me.

Ignorance is no excuse,

so they say,

when guilt and blame

come in to play;

payment,

that’s what you want;

no misery greater

than that which I feel.

Salty tears,

bloody ones too

but this won’t be enough, it’s true .

I’ve got news for you.

My life is wrecked and ruined

proved to be a lie.

Are you happy now?

You know what,

somehow I doubt it.

It’s never going to be enough,

so tell you what;

make out I don’t exist --

maybe that’s the best answer of all.
