It weighs on you, for every night you pick up the bottle and put your emotions on the shelf the weight grows heavier. The alcohol causes all the thoughts you keep locked in your mind to spring forth and wonder the world without you. Your body left behind, your mind begins to wander and explore the earth and it's infinite possibilities. The chemical concoctions that keep you afloat every five days begin to weigh on you and drag you deep into the abyss and while you sink, your mind claws itself out of the body looking for an escape, an excuse.
The excuses only stretch so thin, the truth, so far before you begin to realize all you've done has been for naught. The chase becomes pointless, the love you felt becomes a phantom that lingers too long after a night of heavy drinking.
However you choose to kill your demons, however you choose to drown the devil, there will always be another. Another drink. Another drug. Another chance. Another girl. The devil know as alcohol will help to to climb your hill, but when you reach the summit he will not hesitate to push you down the other side.
So long as you submit and pick up another bottle, victory will never be yours. You may have carried the devil up the hill but it is his to claim.  The victory is not yours, you were only ever a means to an end.
