This morning, I viewed online a perfectly formed leaf—brown, fallen from the tree of this year's growth.  Is autumn often experienced as bittersweet because we've had our opportunity during a cycle to seed, grow, and reap within our own frame of influence?  Did we grow a good crop?  Did we weed vigilantly enough?  Did we harvest what we planted, and share it with others?

I'll choose to celebrate those seeds that took root and flourished, accepting that better seeds and growing methods might have been in order for some of my hoped for outcomes.  Today, I'll pause and be grateful for this year I had on earth to plant and tend my own little field, a thanksgiving of the heart.

(Have you had a moment to consider your own harvest this season?  Could you write a story about those experiences?)
