My Trip to Menorca 2018:

This is my memoir of going to Menorca in 2018 from Tuesday 25th of September to Saturday 6th of October.
I was so excited about going on my Menorca holiday as we had visited Mallorca in 2016. Also compared to our Mallorca holiday the hotel we were going to stay in Menorca was very luxurious.
On Tuesday 25th of September our taxi came and took us to Stansted airport. Once there we proceeded to check in, then to special assistance, went through security, and finally boarded our Jet2 aeroplane.
We touched down into Mao airport and were taken to our hotels via coach. We were the last ones to be dropped off and my mum was getting worried as we were we driving through woodland. She also joked that we would have to go to the hotel by gondola and swim to our hotel room as we had the swim up suite room. Once there we were helped by a member of staff with our luggage and had a glass of champagne and had dinner which was buffet style before going to bed.
We stayed in for the next few days using the outdoor and indoor swimming pools, the spa, and exploring the beach and the local supermarket.
On the first day of our stay in Menorca we met with our Jet2 rep Keith he told us about Menorca as well as booking some tours with him also. He spoke to us about suggestions that we could do for ourselves. For example, taking a bus from Santo Tomas to Cuitadella which we did.
We caught a bus from Santo Tomas to Cuitadella. The bus was red and yellow and looked more than coach to the normal buses you would find in the UK. It also reminded me of the shuttle bus that we went on in Madeira. It was a lovely trip out as we saw beautiful buildings and the port of Cuitadella.
For one of the two excursions we booked we visited the centre of Mao where we saw a cheese souvenir shop and the smell of the cheese really did hit you and felt like I was going to be sick as the smell was dreadful. Then we saw the church of St Maries. After that we visited a ginnery where we tasted local spirits, a fishermen’s village with white houses and a hotel for adults only! Finally we saw a pirate cave called cova den xoroi where at night it turns into a nightclub. Sadly the main reason we booked the trip was that we would be going on a glass bottom catamaran but it was cancelled due to the bad weather you can’t have everything you want can you.
The other trip we went on was the Island tour where we went to the natural park of s’Albufera des gras which had beautiful views, lagoons, and lakes. As well as the Torro de Fornell chapel. Where in the legend of the chapel some friars of the church could see divine light coming from a mountain which happened over a few nights. The friars decided to go and investigate. When they were going up a mountain a large boulder plus a bull came across their path and luckily the bull broke the boulder instead of attacking them after they had prayed. They took the statue of the Virgin Mary but the next day it went back to the place it was found. After this the friars decided to build a chapel with this statue inside it. The final stop was a cheese farm where we saw goats and their kids, and cows and their calves as well as how the cheese was made. Plus a taster session of the cheeses which I couldn’t do just like in the city centre of Mao due to the smell so I decided to pass.
On the whole Menorca was a beautiful island and the hotel standard was great too. This place is a definite must see you wouldn’t want to miss out trust me.
