Hashtag movement, nothing more and nothing less,

Wait about an hour, something else will replace you.

Seeing bad news, and saying “oh what a shame”,

Crashing and burning, it’s what’s popular these days.

A nation desensitized, graphic violence isn’t shocking,

Yet another shooting, innocent blood makes the grass grow.

Despite the outrage, no action taken, we’re only talking,

Oedipus rex, tearing our eyes out, ignoring the real problem.

Mental health crisis in America, it should be an epidemic,

Stigma is heavy, like the pressure 20,000 leagues underwater.

Too scared to be ourselves, second guessing, nothing’s authentic,

On social media, we’re all pretending to be something that we aren’t.

Glorification of drugs use, the line between harmless fun and addiction

Has become so blurred, that it needs a prescription for eyeglasses.

A vast majority of the country, is struggling with their finances,

Working themselves to the bone, not even for a living wage.

Health insurance is a joke, and one that isn’t fucking funny,

Niggas take my money, then they don’t pay for the expenses.

These pills keep me functioning, but you aren’t paying attention,

Dehumanizing me, cause all you care about is fucking money.

Hashtag movement, nothing more and nothing less,

Wait about an hour, something else will replace you.

Seeing bad news, and saying “oh what a shame”,

Crashing and burning, it’s what’s popular these days.
