“Dysxelia”

Sometimes the

words

look back at

me

as their letters

dance around

I read them

once

I read them

twice

each time

a different

sound,

my eyes

can’t seem

to notice

when some

words

get left

behind

you’ll tilt

your head

in wonder

what happened

to the rest

the missing words

I’m holding

back

a rambling

jumbled

mess,

somedays

I might just

catch myself

correct what

went out

wrong

but many more

just slip away

I never know

where they

have gone,

I wish they’d

stand up

straight and

tall

and not step

across the line

do their job

and spell the

words

that look out

from my mind,

to bad that

rarely happens

so excuse me

if you can

I’m off to

hunt the letters

that are missing,

I hope you

understand…
