As the years roll along and I pick up change and losses, I find solace in the small gifts sprinkled in my days.  Having experience working in the companion health care industry, I'm ever more aware of the gift of good health and being able to partake of a normal, everyday life.  When I wake up in the morning, I can fend for myself, start the coffee, tidy as I go, help my family.  It's truly a gift to still possess my mobility, the use of all five senses, the ability to communicate clearly, and participate in life.

Just going to the grocery store can be an adventure, if you really experience the event.  It is even better alongside my companion.  He and I have such fun browsing the aisles with a variety of people of every age and walk of life.

Some time ago, I shed the need for having big events to spark up my life.  It really is the little things, acknowledged and enjoyed, that light up the road from cradle to grave.  It is the now of it all that defines a life well lived.  It's good to polish up one's love for life.

The gift of it all begins in this moment.  Look around and really see.  Remember who you are—the people and events that have made you the unique and wonderful person you've become.  May your journey be bright.  Don't miss it.  Start now!
