Fighting Words

You could sense the discord in the ranks. The vowels had become so controlling that the consonants refused to stand adjacent to them. The “y” felt ignored by both. The semi colon stepped in and provided a timely pause to address the issues at hand. The question marks inquired as to what the specific complaints were. Cursive manuscript volunteered to take notes.

Exclamation stated that “this separation can serve no one and the vowels and consonants must co –exist” reminding them of their past accomplishments. He recited quotes from Angelou, Frost and Twain. Don’t you remember when you danced along one another? Can you recall a time when the letters formed the carefully chosen words? The ideas which resonated on the mind; a time when no individual sound was more important than the other?

The quotations remarked that his work depended upon them. The comma interjected that she would have no meaning without their coordination. The parenthesis concurred with his fellow marks of punctuation and the meeting was adjourned.
