"Ignorance doesn't seem to be bliss in this instance, but it's certainly the double-sided weapon that keeps the body count climbing. Paranoia and their 'rights' has so many people in an uproar to keep a gun at their side. They're not blind; they just choose to live with their eyes closed.
A solid piece, Hully! You tackle the issue with style and truth!"
Guns Kill!
Some kind of denial
is getting put around;
guns are for safety,
to keep you safe and sound.
But the guy that is crazy,
the girl with a plot,
they can carry these weapons
believe it or not.
You’ll never stop shootings,
prevent such carnage
while equipping arms
and giving advantage.
The finger on the trigger
will not always be yours,
and so many of them
won’t obey the laws;
this is ‘real’ news,
not stuff that is fake;
how many more lives
is it going to take.
You want your weapons,
for good or for ill,
but you cannot deny
the fact that guns kill!

I believe in everything you say. It's so very sad but true with this subject. Excellent job, Hull

This is so true. Sad but true. Well written as always, dear. x
Too true, and excellent, Hull!
A fitting write, hully. If only you weren't preaching to the choir. I fear the USA will never see an end to the mass shootings for their right to kill.
Such a hot topic right now in America and unfortunately a major problem. We are being taught if you are American and are pro-gun control that you are anti-American. Gun control is so desperately needed! So very sad. Nicely written and true to life!
Another massacre of innocent lives in the US. This poem says it how it is... a no win situation that will continue while people are allowed to purchase guns like grocery items. Brilliant piece, Hully.
I believe that is people who kill, whether it's by guns or some other weapon. It's the people and what causes them to break, that's what we should be focusing on. It's harder to obtain a gun than people think (legally, anyway). There are psych evaluations. I don't think gun control/ more guns laws will solve the problem. We already have them. They'd love to take our guns in order to control us and so we can't fight back if anything happens. Part of the reason we have the right to bear arms is to protect ourselves from an oppressive government, and whatever else if need be. Also, a lot of lives are saved by people who owns guns who stopped a shooter. It's not just because it's our right to own one. Shootings do happen and it's a horrible thing, but it's also horrible that the media fabricates some of these stories and sometimes, they straight up lie just to further their agendas.
Good poem, I could never understand that the pursuit of happiness and the right to bear arms could be put in writing by the same type of people.It just doesn't make sense, or John Lennon must have been right when he jokingly said that happiness is a warm gun. Just look at what happened to him.
Yep. Everyone has a point where they can lose control, no matter how many psychological evaluations they have to prove what 'good' citizens they are. Not to mention the lives lost in 'accidental shootings'. Thanks so much for giving this a read, Bert.
I respect your opinion, of course, but with all due respect...
Guns kill. They can also kill the bad guys, though, and I've seen it happen more than a couple times. These stories are just kinda drowned out, though.
My family has like six guns sitting upstairs, and they ain't doing no harm to anyone but paper targets xD I even just wrote an article defending them.
Well written article here, though, cool to see other points.
Thanks for giving this a read. I can accept your right to your own opinion too.
This was actually written in response to a documentary about a father taking his own child out on to a home based range for target practice, tragically ending with him shooting her accidentally.
