Across the stone bridge your carriage rides

over placid water and beneath the night sky.

Your mansion stands a silhouette upon a wooded plateau

where wolves lurk and the deadly nightshade grows.

Into your mansion you retreat for the night

in the comfort of your bed and secure from sight.

But I can see you sleeping there

I am the one you hath scorned and left to taste the bitter air.

Across the stone bridge there drifts a billow of smoke

a set of eyes appear and curse you with a choke.

Within the wooded plateau the wolves howl at the moon

commanding around your comfortable bed the shadows to loom.

You dream of pleasant things and think you are safe

until you see me standing over you when you awake.

I am the one you once knew but grew tired of sharing your bed

casting aspersions and chasing me away as though you were the one misled.

Now you will feel the pain endured when cast from your door

you will know the agony of being the one scorned.

Suffer in the darkness alone like a ghoul

wander from your mansion to the wolves like a fool.
