A Matter Of Seconds

In two minutes, you’ll be home and break down my song

You think I’ve got all the keys to become someone strong

But I don’t think I’ve got them, I’m lying in weakness

Whenever I want to stand up, my body screams feebleness

So before you get back home screaming at me as always

Because of the day you spent in a complete haze

I want to sing one last time and pretend it’s gonna be forever

My happiness is never something you could ever lever

So, I’m asking you, why does your joys count and mine don’t?

Why do your instants of glee counts, and mine forever won’t?

I’m only asking fairness, because in a matter of seconds

You’ll be back home and I’ll question all of our bonds

The door unlocked, the tinkle of the keys just made my heart stop

You come back home, rant, rave, make me hop

Dispirited, I’m thinking about the reason why I’m staying at all

In a world where we constantly looking for rising, I fall

Someday, I’ll be done with this situation and I will leave you

But to me, it really appears like it’s something you’d like too

It’s always been about you, never me, that’s nothing new

I should have known better, and told you we were through

So, I’m asking you, why does your joys count and mine don’t?

Why do your instants of glee counts, and mine forever won’t?

I’m only asking fairness, because in a matter of seconds

You’ll be back home and I’ll question all of our bonds
