Warning sirens wail in the dark of night,

everything reduced to either either black or white.

No room for gray, it's either my way or the highway.

Compromise turns away and hangs it's head these days.

for every problem, the other side's to blame.

We treat politics like it's some kind of game.

We're two ships that are under verbal attack,

with each side wanting to see the other on the rack.

Lobbing vicious language at the other side,

hoping to widen a rift that's already a mile wide.

What started as a gap has become the Grand Canyon,

with fear and distrust our constant companion.

Had our differences, sure, but now it's a belief echo chamber,

with friend against friend, and neighbor verses neighbor.

What have we become but snarling, vicious beasts hurling hurt?

We better heed to warning siren's urgent alert.
