Far Galaxies

It’s quiet here, solitary,

just me, the lake and one lone tree.

The water’s calm, mirror-like sheen,

I could be standing in a dream.

But it’s not the lake, or the tree

that draws the thoughts, entrances me;

for look upwards to the sky

an astral feast to feed my eye.

Those swirling lights, stars galore,

planets, suns and so much more

draw me in and make me fly

to seek out galaxies I must try.

I leave my body there in place

and in mind drift off to space

for here I’ll always have to roam

until I find the place called ‘home’.

Search abandoned, Earth-ward bound,

back to my body, not a sound;

but I’ll return, when galaxies call

to let me fly, explore them all.
