Informal Poetry Contest

January 7 2019

Informal Poetry Contest Winners:

1st Place: Life Is Funny (A. L. Culverhouse)

2nd Place: England's Dream (Adrian Hunt)

3rd Place: Minful Nonsense (Mingo1206)

Note to all: This was not an easy task. I had to create a chart and give out points for 10 different catagories. I liked many of these poems so much that I did not trust myself so relied heavily on my chart! I will comment on the above three poems and will contact the winners individually to complete the rest of the prizes. Thanks to everyone once again for submitting, I hope to see more from you all.

If you have not read the above three poems yet, give them a try!

Update 31 Dec 2018

Wow. I thought this would be easy! Having read through the entries once I realise that I need a little more time to finalize. There is some really good stuff here and I dont want to rush... so I regret to let you knoew that it will take me another week to post the winners.

For the holidays I am staying with my mom who does not have internet connection! so I rarely have easy access. Please forgive me...

You may submit up to 2 poems.

The poems may be on any topic.

Poems must be submitted by December 1st.

Contest Judging:

The judging will be done by Jan. 1st 2019. I am an English teacher and have studied poetry a bit in the past. My goal is to improve my poetry analysis skills. I am in no way a poetry expert but I have had some experience in graduate level courses and in reading. I am looking for poetry that uses a variety of tools to create an interesting and challenging poem.

Winners:

1st place: I will like your poem. I will become your fan. I will read up to 5 of your works (chosen by you). I will comment/critique up to 3 of your works (chosen by you). I will also shelve 1 of your works.

2nd place: I will like your poem. I will read 3 of your works. I will comment/critique up to 2 of your works (chosen by you). I will shelve 1 of your works.

3rd place: I will like your poem. I will comment/critique 1 of your works. (chosen by you).
