Big Boy

She stood looking up at the monster.  It stood sixteen feet tall.  Built of solid iron and weighing over a million pounds.  The monster was quiet now, resting.  No longer breathing fire and belching steam as it had when it was alive.  It was a 4-8-8-4 Big Boy, one of the largest steam locomotives, ever.  She was five, maybe six.  Tiny in front of the five-foot driver wheels.  All that stood between her and it was a plastic chain and the sign, Do Not Touch.  Quickly, without a sound, she slipped under the chain.  The guard moved quickly also but not quickly enough to stop her from placing her hands on the wheel.  The locomotive didn't move, it didn't crumble, it didn't break.  Her memory became that of the guard, grabbing her by the arm and yelling "NO!"
