I don’t expect a silly human

To understand my song.

You call it “gosh-darned howling–”

Boy, have you got it wrong!

It’s not a howl at all, you see,

But something deep inside my soul.

A song so profound it must come out–

It means more than you can know.

I sing of mountains, rivers, falls,

And paths my wild ancestors once tread

I sing of hunts, of moons, of ships,

Of our alphas who once led.

When the urge strikes, I must sing of this–

What can I do to stop it? Not a thing!

So, yes, I know it’s two a.m. right now,

But sometimes, you just gotta sing!
