Anxiety Attacks

Pulse beginning to accelerate,

breathing feels restricted;

head is feeling overloaded,

lungs are so constricted.

Not enough air,

can’t breathe in deep,

pulse gets agitated

with oxygen asleep.

Fight or flight,

panicked screams

inside my head

nitrous oxide streams.

Cannot make it,

that is clear

need someone to

get me from here!

Pass me a paper bag,

please...

breathe in and out

let panic ease.

Pulse still thumping,

hands in a sweat,

sight is blurry

won’t forget.

But there’s an easing

of constriction;

worst is over,

my prediction.

But there will be another time

when anxiety attacks become a crime.
