Kick Me To The Ground

You kick me to the ground

with your steel-toe caps on,

no feet inside,

no socks,

but words.

No messing around,

you aim for my head,

drop me with a blow

well aimed

on target.

Go, man, go!

Are you not the hero,

the man of the moment?

No sympathy

and no compassion;

hey, that’s all gone out of fashion.

Whipping words,

ones like bullets,

the force of that boot

weighing in behind.

You choose your time well,

an audience guaranteed,

makes it so more satisfying

when you knock me to my knees.

Not that you need egging on,

but hey, you got some laughs.

Tears too,

but they seem like nothing

but a green light

screaming ‘more!’

It was just a joke,

you later said,

but your humor seriously

messes up my head.

I’m not dead yet,

so you can still have your fun

but maybe not

for I’m now

emotionally

numb.

So kick me to the ground

with your steel toe-caps on

for you might as well finish

what you have begun.
