Put On Love

A broken heart lay before me,

Instead of anger and pain,

Love flowed beautifully from the cracks,

Like water gushing out of a rock.

I wondered at the sight,

For there were many scars

And there was not a place a crack was not.

At the sight of this broken heart I was humbled.

Put on Love a voice uttered behind me.

I did not turn around.

Sing back the darkness and forgive them,

For the heart you see is your own.

So when pressed,

I choose to Love.

When hurt,

I will put on Love like a garment.

For Love is a Wild thing,

It cannot be tamed.

It is the light,

That shines into the darkness of our hearts,

And illuminates the treasures hidden there.

Put on Love,

In the face of anger.

For Love is the choice that leads to connection.

Love is a decision,

I choose you and I am for you,

No matter how far this road leads,

I will walk beside you as far as I can.

The Shepherd is with us always,

Always speaking gently to us.

Put on Love, He says,

For Love has made a Way.
