Walking down those streets
In the middle of the da,
In the dark of the night,
In the light of that lampshade,
You're black, you're white, you're mix skin coloured
You're fat, you're slim, you're starving, you're pregnant
It doesn't matter.
You're dressed traditionally, religiously, simply or orned with jewellery, fancy dress, formal or casual;
Only your eyes showing or your cleavage exposed, your mini skirt or trousers you wear
Damn all of them.
You're young, you're old; they're hungry for them all
As the lights go red, that vehicle stops, evil minds wake up
To hell with your clothes, age, colour or size
those eyes strip you down instantly
Those whistles put you naked publicly
Woman you steal your eyes from them,
look down so that you're not embarassed
How much clothes will you wear more?
You've been raped without being touched
What do they know how does it feel
You walk away numb, that's what they want
You don't defend yourself, you empower them
Your words count, your silence encourages
But then they are men
Your words will plant the seed of anger
Ego won't let you go
Lights go green, you're safe
Breathe woman, be relieved from the fear
Those eyes are gone
But this is not the end...
There's more of it to face everyday...
