Why do we run when it's easier to walk?

Why do we scream when we can just talk?

Why do we hear when we should just listen?

Why do we fear that who we are?

We become what we despise,

despite knowing what we became,

we lie into our hearts so that our fire

doesn't burn itself out in flames.

We trade our money and keep our hearts,

We take from earth and tear it apart,

We kill in the name of peace,

We kill in the name of god,

yet each peace we kill, is a piece of god.

Endless is our suffering and so is the burden we carry,

and by the time our time comes, we won't need to worry,

by our history will we be buried.

That who we were cannot be changed,

rooted we are the ones to blame,

yet hope still shines dim on the bark,

that who we are can still grow out of the dark.
