Do Not Fear Automation

The fourth industrial revolution has already begun with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning powering technology to incredible limits something which was fiction a few decades ago.

The transcription software developed by Microsoft is now more accurate than what humans can achieve as teams. The speech-recognition programs are getting better, with the help of “deep learning”, computers are now able to accurately identify certain eye diseases just from retinal scans. At this time, the patients will have to access those computers but they will be able to access it remotely in the near future? No need to go to a doctor, waiting in long queues?

There are simultaneous developments and breakthroughs occurring which are almost unnoticed at this point as we are inundated with massive flow of information and are unable or overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of new avenues opening up in front of us. Once those developments start integrating with each other, a rapid and mind boggling journey is all set to begin.

While the benefits are easy to gauge like cures for all diseases, ultra-efficient production machines and easy access to education, so are fears; losing jobs, machines turning against their masters and social unrest in wake of massive unemployment and resulting frustration and anger unleashed by billions of people on the planet.

The problem is that humanity is not aligned on a single point agenda; that everything is for the benefit of man, everything. Technology is only a tool to deliver that infrastructure where all things are subservient to humans. The corporate greed is hindering the flow of benefits to its rightful heir, man.

Now think about the advancement of AI and visualize the pinnacle of the technological sophistication. Man being the center and machines working as his servants. Humans do not need to work to earn wages for living but they live happily in a global resort.

There is no MONEY. Just some units allocated to people to use for things they want. Most of the amenities are free, almost.

Sooner we start a pilot project with that scenario in mind, the better. It would be easier to roll it out and transition to a mass scale after the trial is successful. The timeline can be as long as few hundred years and as short as fifty years or less.

A complete global alignment is mandatory, and before that transpires, have faith that the scenario can and will be achieved in time.

Do not fear the Future; Shape it. And your time starts now!

Cheers!!
