The Games You Play

The games you play

The changes made

Should I say

Mistakes that stay

Not of chess

Checkers, you jest

A no or yes

Away from my chest

You are not dumb

Naive, unlike none

Yet, how you hum

Once, it would numb

The games you play

For me to be slay

To rest far away

Washed away in May

I do not wish

To be last ditch

Nor to be miss

Now, a hiss

No more the queen

Only a pawn to be

Don’t think of me

Or how I plead

Quickly as you came

Heavenly, as you may

You are so brave

Your future, your fame

A polite refusal to be made

Of which, by thy name

Morgan… If I may

I’m not one to play this game.
