Flight Delays.

As it gets nearer to the Christmas holidays, more and more people are taking to the air to either make their way home for the festivities or to visit relatives, friends etc. Why would people deliberately decide to disrupt this? And I’m not talking about workers who might feel a legitimate right to strike but one or two individuals who have set out to try and cause chaos.

London’s second busiest airport, Gatwick, has been brought to a standstill by two drones flying above and around runways and flight paths. Planes cannot take off, and many due to land have been diverted. So far this situation has been going on for 16 hours, with just 45 minutes of this time getting operational before having to again shut down.

The search for the drone operators has so far proved to be in vain. A suggestion was put forward to shoot them down but worry about damage caused by stray bullets has prevented that action.

In the meantime tens of thousands of passengers have had their travel plans brought to a standstill, delayed, or otherwise disrupted by what appears to be nothing more than someone’s decision to cause havoc.
