Diagnosis

Daily crawling out of bed,

Banshees screaming in my head.

Memories of yesterday…

Wait – am I alive today?

Legs betray me when I walk,

Mouth all twisted when I talk

Garbling every thing I say.

Who can hear me anyway?

My mind races, thick as fog

Everyday a tiresome slog.

Life inside this broken wall

Really is no life at all.

Reality escapes my grasp

Worse, the harder that I clasp.

Every demon I hear call

Follows me into the hall.

“Get up off your lazy ass,

This here life ain’t no free pass.”

Words like arrows 'round me fly

Piercing me as they go by.

Again their fed-up faces

Are sitting in their places,

Voices in my head say hi -

They serve as my alibi.
