I wrote this for a friend of mine, who really has no idea how much she inspires me!

Sunshine Under Every Care Hits A Nerve

Her face turns up to see the light

When all around in darkness lies.

Her thoughts are grounded but her mind

Is open as the vast blue skies.

It’s not that she’s devoid of pain

Or sorrow hasn’t tinged her eyes,

She knows where sadness best is kept –

When she meets hopelessness, it dies.

Her energy amazes me,

It never seems to have an end,

Degrees and papers, research fields

(and in her spare time poems are penned!)

Her family is number one,

But when their parties you attend

It’s very difficult to tell

the relative from just the friend.

Her friendship hits a nerve in me

In a very positive way,

Her sunshine travels many miles –

It lands on me and makes my day.

She’s unaware of how she turns

The “laissez faire” I often say

Into a strength renewed and fresh

That keeps the hounds of hell at bay.
