Every little thing
Makes me squirm, makes me shake.
Even with the lights on bright
Nightmares keep me wide awake.
My head begins to ache—
It is a dark, demonic night;
I am the gnawed on bate
For fear to catch and fight.
I am terrified—no, horrified!
In a panic locked the door,
And as I sit and write I swear
I hear a knocking at that door.
Down the hall my eyes did peer,
In the darkness a body stood—
Somebody help me escape this house.
I know I’m dead for sure…
Tis the eerie stillness of the night
That twists and stirs my thoughts,
Or is it that I’ve finally snapped
And forever I’ll be lost?
So time just ticks… tick tocks and mocks,
Torturing me— It knows I can’t sleep.
My heart beats fast, I lay in shock.
The twilight owl begins to weep.
