About a guy and a girl and some glitter...

“Glitter Girl”

He had only

gone out with

her

for a short

period of time

a couple of

months

that he knows

now

he wishes

would have been

longer,

she had cornered

him

at a club

on a minor’s

madness night

staring down

some other girl

as she talked

to him

letting her know

with her eyes

across the crowded

dance floor

she could look

at him

but she better

not try and

touch him,

he didn’t mind

being cornered

all that much

he had danced

with this girl

earlier

it was a 80’s

themed night

and she had

taken

an outfit

and cut it

up

so that it

now fell

with her left

shoulder

totally exposed

and she had

cut some cute

peek-a-boo

holes

throughout the

rest of the

top

which was sitting

on

a very short

plaid skirt

and some sort

of black leggings

an article of

clothing

that he never

much cared for

but on her

they really seemed

to work

maybe it was

those thick

platform soles

of her Japanese

style shoes

that changed his

mind,

then on top

of the whole

look

she had a

sprinkling of glitter

on her face

her bare shoulder

and stuck to

her clothes

making him

wonder

if glitter was

really a thing

in the 80’s

or did she

just like the

sparkle,

he wasn’t completely

taken by her

she had a

pale complexion

despite the hot

California sun

she was small

in stature

concerning

all aspects of

of her body

and her face

would be considered

plain

by most comparisons,

but she was

very different

and outgoing

and let him

know

with a complement

of subtleties

that she really

liked

getting any part

of his attention

that in its

self

made her special

that night

to him,

he wasn’t use

to being so

openly liked

when they danced

and in conversation

her eyes

wouldn’t let go

of his

but even so

he danced with

that other girl

from across

the room

a few times

anyways

her superior looks

making it impossible

for him to

say no

but she wasn’t

in the mood

for competition

in less he

made a move

in her direction

she was willing

to let this

guy go,

so the 80’s

themed

glitter girl

dominated

almost all of

the rest of

the night

with him

and though

he wasn’t much

of a dancer

rhythm being lost

on him

she still found

a way of

coaxing him

out

on to the

dance floor

looking up

into his eyes

as the bright

colored lights

reflected back

to him

on all of

her glitter

as he kind

of

just bounced

around

waiting for the

song to end

but enjoying

all of the

energy

from the music

and sharing it

with her,

he was unable

to complain

when a slow

song

took over the

tempo

having only to

turn slowly

at the same

rate of speed

as her

and not step

on anything

belonging to

her,

and it was

here

that she first

showed him

how much she

really liked him

tightly holding

on to him

with her head

on his chest

listening to his

heart

as they traveled

in a circular

path

like she wanted

the dance to

last forever

afraid to let

go of him

not wanting the

moment to end

with the song,

and when the

night

was heading for

it’s inevitable

last breath

and all the

other people

were clearing

out

it was she

that asked for

his number

not wanting to

leave the next

step

up to him,

that two months

he spent with

her

was less than

seeming more like

a life time

of yesterdays

now,

but he thought

he was better

never really

understanding

just what he

had

standing before

him

looking up

into his eyes,

what happened to

all the glitter

to Ivy

under whose

colored lights

is she sparkling

now…
