Days have passed. The skies were no longer clear. The ocean no longer blue.

Raven had lost Clara sometime around the second day. Their paths separated as the thousands of people ran for their lives, bumping into things, leaving their loved ones, breaking into buildings. It was chaos. Raven had never seen anything like it.

She wrapped a ripped up shirt around the wound on her arm. She still had the clothes on from their first day of this trip.

Raven decided to travel up, towards the mountain peaks. She had no contact with the rest of the world. She could only hope help was coming and it was only happening to Hawaii. She took a shaky breath as she visioned how it all started.

The rotting creatures dragged themselves out of the sea. Raven and Clara had no way of driving back so they ran through the woods as fast as they could, carrying only a few of their belongings. They ran hand in hand, desperate to not lose one another. Clara tripped over a tree stump, picking herself up quickly to catch up to Raven.

“Clara, let’s take a breath. We outran those things. What are we going to do?” Raven breathed, resting her hands on her knees. Her eyes scanned their surroundings, but everything was just trees and dirt. Clara had begun to panic.

“What do we do? Where can we go?! We have no idea where we are!” Clara paced around, still having to catch her breath. She wiped the tears from her eyes and looked up, wishing this was a dream.

“We have to get to town and warn the others if it hasn’t caught up to them already.”

Who would have thought it’d turn out like this.
