Patches of heather has been burned off for regeneration,

Leaving behind twisted branches, dark as charcoal,

Reaching towards the sky as though they were hands sprouting from the ground.

There's a mist that starts to descend across the hills,

Engulfing each one slowly, hiding them away,

leaving only a white canvas for the imagination to work with.

A raven flies above the moor,

It’s black silhouette and diamond tail standing out a mile.

Rain starts to fall from the sky in a light shower,

Glistening on the brown coats of a herd of ponies.

They huddle together next to a bank,

underneath the bare trees, distorted from the harsh winds,

shielding their young from the icy cold air.
