Don't jump to any conclusions for this is inspired by something that no-one will ever guess.

Question Never Asked

He never asks the question,

the one I’m waiting for,

even though the answer is

so certain and so sure.

What question? Who? I hear you think,

and here I must confess

that it’s pointless now to ponder

for you’ll never, ever guess.

My mind, it’s convoluted,

and rejects all logic taught;

you’ll need to think outside the box

before a hint will be so caught.

A secret safe inside my mind

for I will simply never tell

and you will never work it out

I can so foretell.

It’s pretty much a waste of time

for you to even try,

it’s nothing but a twisted thought;

the ‘what’ and then the ‘why’.

He never asked the question,

and never will, I guess;

it’s really kind of shameful

I now must profess,

the ask and then the answer

will not see the light of day

and it really does not matter,

it really is okay.

The question remains a secret

but I’ll answer if you press,

for it is nothing other than

one straightforward ‘yes’.

An intriguing, mind-wracking mystery, Hully. So many possibilities . . .

OK, I will risk the QI klaxon and suggest that the question is 'Will you marry me', but that is so obvious that it can't be right. The question is equally likely to be, 'Would you like me a cuppa tea?'

There are so many possibilities, Joe, and this one is really so odd that no one will ever guess it!
Thanks for having a go, though, and for reading too!

I like how you didn't reveal the question. This mysterious vibe gives the poem a nice flair. c:
