Fathers have an important role to play in raising a child. Father involvement makes a real difference, whether in the areas of intellectual development, sex-role development, or psychological development. Most kids do better when their relationship with Dad is close and warm, and when Dad lives with them, said Dr. Duncan. Fathers must not only protect their children physically from any danger or harm, but also protect them morally and spiritually. They also have to provide their children for their material and emotional needs, so he is responsible for having a means of livelihood that will support these needs.

Andy was a father. He had a daughter, "Jennifer 8" years old. She liked to ask him:

"What's that Daddy?"

And he would answer:

"I have no idea. Ask Mum."

Children should always be taught by their fathers. It would be unfair for kids not to learn anything from their fathers. So when Andy realized his mistake, he changed his answers to:

"I'll ask Mum and come back with the answer."

Over the time, Andy improved so much as a father that he would open his daughter's eyes to the world. Jennifer could actually experience what life was all about and how life should be lived. She would also tell Mum that she liked it when Daddy was around because she could play around with him. Andy was the perfect playmate for his daughter.

Actually, Andy had a secret to how become a good father: "The Five Key Habits of Smart Dads." A book his wife offered him to read because she thought Andy was a terrible dad. As a result of reading the book, Andy learned to maximize the big moments in Jennifer's life such as birthdays, recitals, school performances, sports games, parents-children school meetings, church activities of kids, school awards, graduation, engagement. All these activities were time consuming. But love is time. And time is money. Time is everything.

Andy also understood that fathers should spend time helping their children with their children. He was ready to do it as long as he lived. A big sacrifice for a big reward. Well... only if it's what you want to do with your life.

Jennifer learned so many things from her Dad that she could do virtually anything. Now she liked to ask him:

"Is this how you do it, Daddy?"

And he would answer:

"You got it!"

Then Jennifer asked a different question:

"What About Love?"

"It's "When a Man Loves a Woman." said Andy

Jennifer spent "A Night in Heaven" dreaming about what her Daddy told her about love. She dreamed that when she would grow up a man would fall in love with her. Just like with Dad and Mum.

"Children need parameters, know what's right or wrong."

Not only the children, adults too. Many of us tend to forget what we were told during our childhood.

"I think it's most important for children to understand the concept of respect and manners and also work ethic. I have a responsibility to those who came before me."

A responsibility to do better as many that came before failed to give the good example.

"A lot of things I try to instill in my children comes off of what I've learned from my parents. First of all, you have to lead by example. You can't say one thing and behave another way. Kids learn more from watching you in life than what you say to them. So I try to be the best example I can be to them."

So with children do what you say. Don't promise anything if you can't keep it. Children remember these things and will remind you of them.

"It's important, when going after a goal, to never lose sight of the integrity of the journey."

Fatherhood is a long journey. It doesn't end when children leave home as some might think.

"I am a traditional man. I'm a product of a traditional man. He sacrificed everything for his family."

Andy will sacrifice everything for his family because his father did the same for him. Sacrifice is something people have to understand before starting a family. You've got to be well-prepared.

"If you want to experiment, do something temporary."

Except when you want to experiment with fatherhood. There's nothing worse than a temporary father, who ultimately abandons his family.

"So, goodnight Andy. "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again." Your wife just got pregnant. Ready to start it all over again with another child?"
