There was once a man who lived in the Southern African region in the country of Zimbabwe. His name was Elphias Ndlovu(elephant). And he lived with his wife, two lovely daughters and a grand daughter. Mr Ndlovu was a very religious man who considered reputation and honour to be everything in a mans life thus he always ordered his daughters to be perfect and to do better than their neighbours children who were 'drunkards, whores, useless creatures ', as he referred to them on a good day. Not forgetting he was also a church elder who frequented the beer parlour.

Now it so happened after the joyous occasion of his first daughters marital procession his second daughter became rebellious. No matter how hard he tried Thandoe (love) could never listen to her parents. And Ndlovu tried everything til he decided to chase her out of his home because she was disgracing him and dirting his precious name!

Now in their region there was a very wise man who was well respected even by our dearest friend Ndlovu. So one day he cam to see Ndlovu and as he entered the compound which was quite large he dropped something along the path. After their talk inside they went out. Ndlovu unfortunately stepped on what the elder had dropped and he started swearing furiously, unashamedly! And as he picked it up , he rubbed it on the sides of his trousers. Lo and behold! It was a precious treasure, gold! He started grinning like an idiot ! "My son what is it"? The elder asked. Ndlovu shove the old man back inside the house and started telling him what he was carrying and how precious it was. He even let the old man hold it. When the elder held it he frowned and threw it out the window an act which amazed our dearest friend who was now amazed at his elders lack of wisdom ,"but my father! That is gold! A very expensive treasure! Hard to find, how cam you throw it away just like that"! He cried. And the old man replied calmly ,"it's full of dirt just throw it away". "No my father! I'll purify it and cleanse it and I'll wait no matter how long it takes"! He bemoaned. The elder smiled and took his hand ,"yes my son. Just like your daughter". The man realized his foolishness and vowed to never give upon Thandoe and indeed she grew up and became a well feared counsellor helping young girls to find their way.

Friends, what treasure do you have that you are now willing to throw away because it's not up your standards?

And remember treasure becomes valuable when you place value on it yourself.
