My Last Breath

I retained it in long, knowing it was my last

Blind to it all, only viewing my past

Clenching on tight, to what little life I had left

Savoring each moment, before my eternal dance with death

I suffered through life, strangely, now I enjoy it

Forsaking the man who has effectively stolen it

Laid out on the street, I glare up at the sky

These eyes, my eyes, commence to cry

A lifetime from heaven, rubbing shoulders with hell

Awaiting the moment, confined to my mental prison cell

Attempting to stall my irrefutable fate

I damn each juncture, when my life I ventured to take

My outlook has morphed, I now see life different

Regrettably, redemption has eluded me in the distance

As my life is being abducted, I struggle immensely to keep it

When in my possession, many times I pursued to cease it

My last breath in my being has now departed

Concluding my life, plundering my soul, and revoking my body
