A Mothers Love
No time for sleeping in ‘til noon…when it came to being a mom,
You were too busy keeping me dressed, clean, fed and cared for…and you did it all with love.
Teaching me how to feed myself…and shortly after that how to talk,
You taught me how to put on my shoes…after you taught me how to walk.
Let’s not forget the potty training…a very important chore
Just another step in my growing…and to follow would be many more.
Staying up all hours of the night…to sing me lullabies,
You gracefully rocked me in a chair…hoping to soothe me as I cried.
Teaching me my manners…one was thank you and the other was please,
And when I got a little older…you taught me my ABC’s.
Getting me dressed up for Sunday dinners…voicing kind yet firm words on report card day,
Teaching me different things in life…the most important being how to pray.
Going for walks in the sunshine…jumping in puddles on rainy days,
Standing by my side and reassuring me that…feelings of hurt were O.K.
Reading me bedtime stories…then you’d tuck me into bed,
Good night sweet dreams my darling…sealed with an ever so gentle kiss on the forehead.
Always standing by my side to remind me…“yes you can” and “no matter what”
I think what you done was amazing…your job…I’m speaking of a mother’s love.
