Chapter One

Nightmares Unfolding

That summer was supposed to be fun. But everything went to hell. My name is Nikki Hermashi. My friends Joel Juoni and Sasha Mandrake and I were going to space for our summerly vacation to the Planet Gateway station, Aurora 9, on the edge of the Milky Way Galaxy. We boarded the dropship on Tuesday June 29th 2023, the year of our graduation. It took 17 months to get there. But when we finally got there we were taken to our rooms. But we found out that only one room was available so we all had to share.

“So wait? Your dad owns this place?” Joel said as he took his sweatshirt off and threw it on his bed.

“Yep! That's why we were able to go.” I put my journal under my pillow and plugged in my cell phone. I sat down and started reading a book called ‘City Of Ashes’ By Cassandra Clare. Joel powered up the Xbox 2X and zoned out to the game Halo Infinity.

“Joel… Joel… Joel. Tsk Tsk Tsk.” Sasha laughed as she threw Joel a root beer. He caught it without looking up and opened it with one hand again without losing focus on Halo. But a knock on the door was the one thing that could disturb Joel’s focus and that is exactly what happened.

“Nikki, Joel and Sasha! You are needed at the Embryonic Cryo labs.” A man shouts from behind the door.

“Why?” I shout to him.

“Xenomorph hatchings.” He said calmly. Joel paused the game dropped the controller and slowly looked at the door.

“Those fricks are real?!” Joel says. The man says yes. Joel gets up and puts on shoes and a sweatshirt.

“Well!?! What are you waiting for the second coming of Jesus?!” Joel hollered impatiently “Let’s go already!” Joel bolted out the door, faster than a bullet train.
