The walls slam down,

the door clangs closed;

solitary confinement

for crimes undisclosed.

Shut in or shut out; it’s all a matter of perspective.

Thanks, Mike. I scribbled it on a piece of paper last night, just before I went to bed.

That it is. Some people do better confined in a prison - they can discover their purpose, block out society's expectations and focus on themselves and their goals, while others fall apart when trapped in a cell, feeling like everything's come to an end. It's all about the person and perspective. Fantastic writing, Hully!

Thanks, Jeff. It's about being shut in or shutting everyone else out, as well. I scribbled it down on paper last night with the idea of adding to it then decided it already said what I wanted it to.

Good poem. Like Einstein said: 'It's all relative.'

I'm thinking "shut in."
It's funny, both shutting in or out are both things people do on their own.

That's very true, Luna, but sometimes they get more than a little help.
Thanks so much for giving this a read.

An excellent poem that gets you thinking about how perspective can change things

Thanks, MW. I was planning on adding to it, but I thought it said what I meant as it was.
