A free-style poem.

A Major God

Why is it that

by the very fact of

being voted

in to

office,

you become,

in your mind,

something more

than human?

You don’t need

advice,

you don’t need

assistance,

for by some kind of

divine intervention

you now have all

of the

answers.

You’ve been

elevated,

are now a

GOD,

who seems to

forget

that their purpose

is to serve the

people

instead of

the other way round.

I can think of at least one person this poems fits to a tee. So soon they forget they have a job to do that doesn't involve grinding their own axes.

Yes, there's definitely one obvious candidate, but there are another couple this could equally apply to.
Thanks so much for giving it a read.

As with every facet of life, things change, and in the realm of politics, politicians no longer work for the people but for the corporations who purchase their position for them. Politicians are nothing more than whores and Big Oil, Big Pharma, Big Dairy, Big Meat Industry are their pimps. The people are bent over and screwed because their politicians are bent over and screwed. It's the ugly way our world now works.

Not to the person the previous commenter referred to, that's for sure. And I think you know who the obvious person is, but there are another couple of candidates for this too.
Thanks so much for giving this a read, Mike.

The obvious candidate for the model of this poem seems to finally be sinking a little beneath the weight of scrutiny. We can only hope. Well done, Hully!

I think you've identified the main character that I had in mind, Bobi. There are another few, too.
