Note to Self

You feel as though

You can’t go on

Your fists are clenched

Your guns are drawn

Your self-esteem

Is all but gone

and you can’t take

Another con

This tired world

Can be so cold

But love’s around

It’s been paroled

Just turn yourself

From doom foretold

Pick up your heart

And crack the mould

Look deep inside

Your soul to find

The person that

You left behind

Renew yourself

Refresh your mind

To enmity

Be not resigned

Don’t let this world

Extinguish you

Lift up your head

And see it through

You’re stronger than

You ever knew

And it’s your turn

Don’t miss your cue

It's great reading something from you again! Just yesterday I was wondering about you.
This is a wonderful uplifting piece. When it feels like the world is caving in on us, we forget how strong we really are and we don't realize we've been holding up the walls to our personal world our whole life. It's who and what we have around us that determines how strong we feel, but it does not determine the strength we actually have; for that, we have to keep searching deeper inside ourselves.
Terrific writing! March has kicked off with a tough start, but it's helpful reminders like this that keep the towel from being thrown in the ring.

Thank you! I sometimes question the wisdom of posting so much of my work on Booksie, but your reply just went a long way in easing my mind. Keep a firm grip on that towel, Jeff!

A very motivational poem, Bobi. So well written. I've missed your work lately.

Thanks, Hully. Life gets too busy sometimes! Between an art show, being sick, translating my cousin's book, and writing furiously, I haven't had much time to post. I also get into great periods of self-doubt when I question the wisdom of anything and everything I so, so there's that too! But I do manage to force myself out (only to wonder if I'm ignoring flashing red lights! ahhhh.... the cycle!)

I've done this before - sent something twice by mistake. Too bad there is no way to delete comments you make! (At least none I have found)
