Some Democrats in the State of New York have said they want to decriminalize sex work, like prostitution. No state in the US allows it, although some countries in the world do. Then there are countries where it's illegal, but it obviously happens, like Thailand for example.

In a clip by the Fox News, yes I read Trump's bullshit news even though I think he's a liar, an assemblyman from New York Kieran Lalor tells his opinion. He actually has a few good points, as there is a chance that legalizing sex work can lead to increase in human trafficking. He brings up the Nordic model, which means that in the case of human trafficking, the trafficer is obviously punished, but the victim isn't, as the sex worker more often than not, is the victim. Of the five Nordic countries, two, Denmark and Finland, state that prostitution is allowed, as long as it's not organized. his means brothels and pimping are illegal, which reduce the risk of human trafficking taking place. The other three Nordic countries are a little strickter, as they forbid the buying of sex and the involvement of a third party.

I don't know if I'd personally ever do that myself, but I know two people who have. Students have little money, and chances are you can make money quite easily like that. There are risks to it, like STDs and pregnancy, or the fact that it's not approwed by the whole society. One of the people I know who did this, didn't even know it's legal to sell yourself for money, so she didn't report that to the social security agency that gives out benefits to students. Technically, you should pay taxes for that, since it can be seen as work, but I doubt most people do. Plus the awkward thing that in Finland, everyone can see your taxes and how you made your money, so, a lot of people don't.

At least in the US, legalizing prostitution would probably cause a problem with human trafficing, since there is a lot of it in the country. It would be hard to make sure that the people who do sex work, are safe, since the industry can be quite violent, even if the thing wasn't organized. It would be hard to draw the line between rape, as technically if someone has paid someone for sex and they don't want to do it, what does that mean? It's not an easy question, and it's important for politicians to make clear laws about the thing if they decide to legalize something for this, because sex workers are people, just lik everyone else. They just have a different job, and they should be able to do it without having to worry about their safety, and that's not an easy task to accomplish.
