The Artist

He tempered the injustice by painting.

Creating dreams of places.

Places far away from the reality of his incarceration.

Colors so vivid they make your eyes squint from their intensity.

His reality was limited to shades of gray.

Like the caged bird, he too sings.

Using his fingers and a circular palette.

His thoughts remain his freedom while his form remains contained.

The kind of freedom only expressed through art of some kind. Nice work, Holmesy.

Thank you - this was based on a man who is in his 70's who was wrongfully incarcerated and who is now achieving acclaim for his work

Con The Critiquer

Unlike the caged bear humans have an imagination that can extend outwards and become a persons reality.I Bet that vivid colours and a palette are the chosen tools of many in nursing homes and prisons.

Tx for reading -it could apply to different situations for sure; but was actually based upon a true story I had seen on the news
