Dunk is the coming-of-age story of Brian, a student with a flair for science, who wants to catch the eye of his dream girl, Doris, who is dating Kirk, the star athlete at Greenville High. But the blossoming Brian has already caught the eye of Bug, the girl-next-door he grew up with.
Using science, Brian makes the varsity basketball team and joins them in their quest for the elusive state title. But the story is not finished for our group of Greenville High students. There is still a State Basketball title to chase after and of course, several of our group are chasing love as well. Will the team be crowned champions? Will Brian and Bug find love and with who?
Dunk is the perfect family book for young adults of all ages. There is no cursing, no sex, no drug or alcohol use, and no violence except for some mild bullying which is handled appropriately. Even things like smart phones and laptops are kept to a minimum, the emphasis instead on conversations and interactions between the characters.
