THE PATERNAL PINE

The yellow foliage in wind did shiver

The trunk with nicks and cuts of yore

Swayed in the wind of the valleys

Stood the deep-rooted tree amid

The agony of leave-taking swallow

Raddled, pined, but calm and still

The sanguinely sane swallow did

Shed a tear drop for the paternal pine

That fought the tyranny of wintry eves

And the sultry sun’s scorching beams

Swallow many a soared to the sky

Sans knowing the pain of the pine

Pine never did pine for any bird

But the sweet swallow that chirped

Cheerfully throughout the season

Swallow flapped  its tiny wings

And left the tree in the dusk

In the damp, delusive dusk

The paternal pine peered at

the poised bird and waved

Its branches bidding adieu

in the damp, delusive dusk
