A blend of color,

Mixing in the breeze;

Warm apple cider and

Fall-themed sweaters.

Messy orange hair,

Peeking under a brown hat.

Chestnut eyes and freckles,

Over a warm smile.

Jack-o-lanterns and cobwebs.

Scarecrows and sunflowers.

Leaves dance off their perch:

Aspen,

Oak,

Maple.

Animals hide in their dens:

Squirrel,

Fox,

Rabbit.

The world empties itself.

The color drains away and

the wind dies down.

Lifeless and still, except for

One

White

Flake.
