There’s something I’m not saying;

Something I won’t rant,

It’s something I’m not telling;

And it’s because I can’t.

I know it’s wrong of me;

But to speak I’m not prepared,

I do not mean to do this;

I’m just really scared.

My feelings have now changed;

Because I see the light,

You think that I’m for you;

I’m afraid it isn’t quite.

I’m not bitter anymore;

No scorn inside of me,

I guess I’m growing up;

And much clearly, I can see.

To think I’d leave it all for you;

It’s now another antic,

It’s a product of my 20’s;

To believe it was romantic.

But frankly, it’s very reckless;

And something I can’t do,

I would’ve done it then;

When I was in love with you.

Powerful stuff, Lis. It's always easier to hide or lie than to hurt someone but my sweet Lis, the truth shall set you free. Nicely done

Hindsight always shows us the reality of our former situation; it's a realignment and a wake up call. We have to live through some things in order to figure out what we want.
A well written piece, my friend.

Fantastic rhyming, jaylisbeth. Some secrets are perhaps best off being silently buried, for the damage speaking out can do can be pretty catastrophic.

That's a strong poem Jay, well done. Yes the 20's are different, and fair enough. Usianguke

Fantastic poem, Lis. I sometimes reflect on the events in my life when I was younger, and wonder what I was thinking at the time! Life is a roller coaster, from which we learn, change and, looking back, regret. Your poem says it all, excellent my friend!

Melancholic Wisdom

This is a powerful poem, your rhyming and your imagery help it become even better. It reminds me of feeling the pressure of a secret build up inside of you, and now it's finally threatening to escape. Well done Lis!

It's also like living in the 90s; the freedom and happiness. Then we moved into the 00s, and it is a different world. You are in a different era now, but you understand that decisions you make are for yourself now. This is super powerful, yet emotionally charged. I agree with Adam, the truth is there, and it shall set you free. Beautiful work, yet so powerful in the imagery. The truth will make you stronger. Stunning poem.

We all do grow up at some point... well most of us at least. I loved the lines, "It's a product of my 20's;/ To believe it was romantic. "
I look back on some of the stuff I did back in my 20's and wonder what the heck I was thinking, so that line really spoke to me.
Great one Jay! And I hope you have a wonderful New Year dear. All the best xoxo
