There’s no one left to tell you it’s okay,

And you’re thinking it’s too late for snow-

Kind of a waste ‘cause of all this cold.

She lied and moved on with a smile.

She turns each time to leave

And the world resists the spiral.

The staircase seems to be turning on it’s own.

Strange sense it’s always been the kind that’s straight.

Maybe it’s just your head in the clouds,

You’re not seeing things clear in this house.

The boards squeak by themselves,

And the the noise is too much to handle.

It might be the neighbors,

You use to reason,

‘Cause the walls were always thin,

But now you know that’s not it.
You can’t seem to shake the crazy away.

The supernatural sixth sense.

Before she cries the faucet turns on

When she’s done she turns it back off.

She cooks you dinner and brings it in at the strangest of times.

It was 3 A.m. as you closed your eyes, she opened the door,

Said here’s the soup, sorry it’s cold.

I love you…

And then a sudden chills moves through the room,

The floorboard squeaks,

You hear her in the kitchen,

But it can’t be-

‘Cause the faucet in the bathroom just turned on.

Oh well…

Doesn’t seem that strange anymore.

Everything is merging and everything is stagnant.

Kind of miss when it felt strange.

Now it’s just this indescribable,

Otherworldly certainty

So many of the creepiest real-life paranormal experiences deal with people who have an equitable relationship with the dead. This piece paints great imagery and calls to mind some of those old ghost stories that elicit a chill. Nice work!

I actually didn't have a ghost story in mind while writing this one. I was thinking more halluncinations or the past mixing with the present, but it's interesting to see what the reader thinks or how they will interpret it. Thanks for reading :)
