Now Tom, being of orderly manner

And cute when he be seen

Could somehow never manage

To keep his whiskers clean

A bowl of milk was all it took

And Tom was soon a mess

His appearance most untidy

But we loved him none the less

Cats have pride in appearance

But Tom was just too small

Most playful of all kittens

Spilling his milk, and all

Now in a cat's very nature

Lies a hidden sense so keen

And when our Tom was older

He kept his whiskers clean
