You’re seventeen and some girl lights you up like a match

In her eyes you see the fire

Yours reflect a burning desire

Yet, she walks away from the flames

Your shoulders struggling with all the blame

Afraid, you close your eyes before the crash

But, still, you fall oh so fast

You walk away before the wreckage starts

But you’re burning down regardless

A layer of ashes just beneath your skin

Sifting through the debris you find the girl within

Rekindling the flame, the girl relights her match

Gasoline running through your veins you say,

“Come close dear, I’ll burn with you forever”
