For my Grandpa.

The Day I Made a Man Cried

He sat there with his head

Turned to gaze into the dark.

His eyes were frozen, inside him

Something was boiling.

I turned his head and asked:

“Are you ready?” He nodded.

Tears dripped from his eyes

In a torrent,

Evaporated his lifetime’s memories

Into tomorrows.

With smiles he said:

“It was the first time I ever cried.”

I nodded.

“Goodbye. And do well.” I said.

From a distance apart,

“Goodbye. And I will.” He replied.

Doctors came to unplug his tubes,

Nurses came to clean up his body.

While his face still lingering with tears.

Into blue sky,

“You are welcome.” I whispered.

And soon I heard

a newborn baby cred.
