Patience

Now, please don’t take this wrong. I love my walks, morning, afternoon and evening. Trotting along beside you, just where I am meant to be.

I’m very well trained. This is not boasting for it is down to your teaching as much as my willingness to please you. A smile, a pat, even a treat, and it’s a lesson well learned.

But today you are giving me such a temptation. It really is enough to try the patience of a Saint, let alone that of a dog.

Right by the doorway, I sit and wait. No leash holding me back from all those scents, the aromas that waft by my nose whenever the door opens to admit someone, or even worse, to let them out with those munchy morsels packed inside bags.

I’m fighting it, the urge to follow, to sneak in that door and sample those treats. I KNOW that would make you mad. Don’t take much longer, please, for my canine instincts are kicking in, and my patience is running out.
